Abstract

Today, in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it has become known that the use of mortars of various calibers by the Defense Forces of Ukraine is one of the quite effective solutions when conducting assault operations. Since these samples have proven themselves quite effectively due to their high mobility and efficiency in hitting and suppressing enemy manpower operating both in open terrain and on lightly armored vehicles or light-type shelters (trenches, blocked gaps, half-destroyed buildings, etc.).

Therefore, the article proposes an algorithm for calculating the quantitative weight and shape of fragments when assessing the damaging effect of fragmentation fields of high-explosive 82- and 120-mm mines. The main factors influencing the creation of fragmentation fields of high-explosive 82- and 120-mm mines are analyzed, which will further create opportunities for research, forecasting and expansion of vectors of fragmentation fractions, which causes the deepening of fragmentation fields of high-explosive 82- and 120-mm mines in the environment. Analysis of existing results of research on internal detonation processes allows us to obtain an objective picture of the distribution of fragments of fragmentation fields of high-explosive mines in space depending on the quantitative weight and shape of the fragments. Thus, the basis is being formed for the possibility of improving the existing scientific methods (methodologies) for studying the structure and nature of the action of fragmentation fields by high-explosive 82- and 120-mm mines. The results obtained allow a deeper understanding of the patterns of the fragmentation process of 120 mm mines and identify factors that affect the characteristics of the creation of fragmentation fields and their lethal capabilities. These data can be used to optimize the design of both high-explosive mines and shells in general. Which creates conditions for more accurate prediction of the nature of the impact of fragments on enemy manpower located in light-type shelters.

Keywords: high-explosive mines, shells, fragmentation, quantitative weight, damaging effect, fragmentation field.
