Abstract

Multipurpose heavy armor-plated tractor MT-LB is one of the most massive tracked vehicles of military automotive equipment, which over its more than half-century history has gained great popularity both in our army and abroad. The fleet of these vehicles numbers thousands of units. And to this day, MT-LB is indispensable. The idea of converting tracked tractors into improvised combat vehicles probably originated during their first "baptism of battle" during their use in an anti-terrorist operation due to their high cross-country ability and armor, which could protect against light small arms.

The Russian-Ukrainian war was no exception. In conditions of a severe shortage of armored vehicles, both armies massively re-equip these vehicles, rearming them with various types of available small arms and artillery weapons.

At the same time, no one has called these vehicles tractors in the army for a long time, since for more than one year now the absolute majority of them have been used as combat vehicles and base chassis for mounting weapons and various means of combat and technical support. The rich experience of combat use of vehicles of this type indicates the need to improve ergonomic properties while ensuring the ability to accommodate a sufficient number of personnel and preserving its main advantages.

Through theoretical review and experimental studies, the main proposals regarding this issue have been obtained, and the direction for further research has been determined. Only by considering the main aspects in conjunction with the minor ones can significant results be achieved in each specific case.

The Zhytomyr Armored Plant has begun converting the chassis into combat vehicles with the PARUS combat module, which is armed with a 30-mm 3TM-1 automatic cannon, a PKT machine gun, and a KBA-117 automatic grenade launcher. Control is provided via an internal control panel.
